Fran StrachanHair that cares - who owns the mo with the mostest this Movember?

Itching, scratching, embarrassment and lack of loving are just some of the problems the Movember DVC (Academic) Team have experienced in their quest to put the mo back into modern masculinity.

Movember began nationally in 2004 to increase awareness of prostate cancer and depression in the community and has now raised over $30 million globally to help change the attitude men have to their health.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Richard Henry was given the difficult task of choosing 2008’s winning facial hair adornment at a Movember morning tea this week.

“It’s very subjective, I mean, how do you choose the best hat at the spring carnival?” he said. “In the end, we chose the moustache that had the best suitability to the face behind it,” said Richard.

The most ‘suitable’ mo belonged to Gerry Braddon, from ESOS Compliance. His 70’s Sports Commentator moustache helped him raise the most funds of any individual team member.

“This is an auspicious prize and the highlight of my University career, nothing else comes near this,” Gerry laughed.

Head of Student Recruitment, Steve Sumter, said Movember had provided the opportunity to support a worthy cause while developing camaraderie across the division.

“We’ve accomplished two things, getting to know each other and collectively raising over $2,600 towards prostate cancer and depression,” Steve said.

We asked some of the Mo Bros what they were most looking forward to post-shave. . .
