Open for Business

UNSW's new Faculty of Business is now official, following the appointment of its senior management group.

The new entity is the result of the integration of the Faculty of Commerce and Economics and AGSM, recently endorsed by the UNSW Council and Academic Board.

The senior management group, headed by Dean Professor Alec Cameron, will now assume responsibility for the Faculty.

Members of the senior management team are:

• Senior Associate Dean: Professor Wai Fong Chua
• Associate Dean, Research: Professor John Piggott
• Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs and Education: Associate Professor Prem Ramburuth
• Associate Dean, Postgraduate Programs and Director, AGSM: Professor Eddie Anderson
• Director, Executive Programs: Graeme Gherashe
• Director, Alumni and Community Partnerships: Jane Westbrook
• Director, Communications: Marie Kelly
• General Manager: Penny Liggins

“The Faculty of Business brings together AGSM and FCE’s research and teaching leadership in a range of business areas, creating valuable synergies and boosting research and educational outcomes,” said Vice-Chancellor Professor Fred Hilmer. “This will strengthen UNSW's position as a centre of excellence for business education and research in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.”

A meeting of the Faculty Board for the Faculty of Business will be held later this month to establish the committees for the new Faculty and elect the Presiding Member.

“I would like to thank Professor John Piggott and Professor Eddie Anderson for their service as Acting Deans of FCE and AGSM respectively. I would also like to thank the many AGSM and FCE faculty and staff who participated in working parties during the last six months,” Professor Hilmer said.

The new Faculty of Business will welcome its first intake of students in 2007.
