Professor Bruce Dowton, Dean of Medicine, departed UNSW and Australian shores at the end of January after seven years of leadership at the Faculty of Medicine. "I am most grateful for the intellectual creativity, personal energy and commitment which so many have brought to the life of our Faculty," said Professor Dowton. He and his family have relocated to the US where he will pursue new avenues in academic leadership. |

Professor Michael Bittman: After almost a decade at the Social Policy Research Centre, Professor Bittman has accepted a role as Professorial Fellow in Sociology at the University of New England. Professor Bittman will remain an honorary fellow at the SPRC and will divide his time between Sydney and Armidale. |

Clare Taylor has been appointed the Director of Marketing and Development. This newly created position reports directly to Professor John Ingleson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development). Clare, who takes up her position later this month, comes to us from the private sector where she has worked for some of the world’s biggest and best known brands in the IT and FMCG industries. |

Professor Karen Rogers has been appointed Director of Research for UNSW's Gifted Education Research Resource and Information Centre. Professor Rogers was previously a professor of education at the University of St Thomas in Minnesota. |
